Just wondering if there was any easy way of turning off (or customising) the welcome message sent to users by Mahara 1.3? 

Any guidance on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, You could either edit the orginal lang string or create a new lang package with only the string you want to change and put this into the maharadata/langpacks folder.

Modifiying the core code is more easy but you will have to do this at anytime you upgrade your Mahara.

You can also override individual strings in the htdocs/local/lang folder, as long as you put your new strings in a file with the same name as the file in which they occur in Mahara. For example, use htdocs/local/lang/en.utf8/mahara.php to customise a string in htdocs/lang/en.utf8/mahara.php.
