Want Upgrade Instructions to 1.4

Hello, I have lost our IT person that installed Mahara. I have frontend admin access, am I able to upgrade to 1.4? If so how? Thank you, Debbie

Sorry you lost your IT person.
To update or upgrade mahara, you need to have access to the directory your mahara is installed. Then I have first a few questions before going further:
- Do you have a physical access to it, I mean is Mahara hosted on a machine you can access with a screen/keyboard or is it hosted by an internet service provider?
- If it is a computer you can physically access? What operating system is used (MacOS, Mandriva, Ubuntu, Windows, ....)?
- What is your computer skill like? This will help people on this forum to give you direction in a way you may understand
