Upload file stays grey on Safari/Chrome
25 August 2011, 9:38
When we go to upload images from the local computer, our users click the copyright checkbox, but in Safari and Chrome, we are unable to select files. This works w/o a problem on Firefox. Is this a Java or Flash issue?

Hi Jonathan,
This is a new bug that has cropped up recently that we are trying to fix. The bug ticket is available at https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/819102. You can subscribe to that bug to follow the progress.
Basically there is a regression in chrome that introduced this behaviour. It works in earlier versions of chrome, and probably earlier versions of safari as well.
A possible fix that can be done for now is to disable the copyright warning, but this may not be acceptable to you. Otherwise the only way around it at the moment is to use a different browser.
Sorry, hope this helps.
Cheers,
Hugh

Seen in Safari too but latest version of Safari on OS X 10.7 is not affected. You can click on the area where the field would be and it works.
What is the best way to nix the copyright checkbox in the interim? I will look through the code and see if I can find it.

You can turn the copyright checkbox off in the admin area under Extensions, in the artefact.file plugin configuration.

Super easy. Thank you for taking the time to post on this. We want to make it as easy and fast as possible for our high school students to upload their own works, so disabling this makes sense.
Appreciate it.
