Our Mahara users come from a Moodle installation where the email field is not compulsory, so there are users with an email adress and other usersĀ  without email adress.

If one of the "without email adress" wants to pass to Mahara is having serious problems. Mahara does not shows any message, but creates an user with a files space = 0. However, if a Moodle user has email adress, can pass to Mahara normally.

So the questions is: is there any way to make the email field in Mahara's user not compulsory? I've looked in Administration but I didn't find nothing.

Mahara expects an e-mail address for every user. There's no setting to make that optional right now.

We should really make sure that the SSO code bails out properly if you try to create a user without one. It might be worth filing a bug for this.

Then later, when we can, we can look at the parts of the system that need an e-mail address and see if we can make them work without needing one.
