Hey guys,

 I was just running through the install process for the software and seem to run into my first user error. ;)

 When pulling up my index.php in the install directly I am directed to this page.

 example: http://www.wirefolio.com/index.php

Directs me to

http://www.wirefolio.com/get02/346407/346408/www.wirefolio.com/web/content/admin/

I am sure I missed something, but very anxious to test the software out and help out the community. I am using mosso.com as my host and set up a MYSQL5 DB.

Cheers,

W

That's very strange - that web address you got directed to has got nothing to do with Mahara. Did you set a wwwroot in your config.php - if so, comment it out and try again? Mahara auto detects it.

Thanks for the reply Nigel, yah it is wierd though I will admit that Mosso's server environment is usually a bit dogger with some 3rd party installations.

I didn't set a wwwroot, but from your note I went back and added the below and it now shows a blank white page. It has to be a pathing issue, just working to nail it down. ;)

Appreciate the help sir.

$cfg->wwwroot = 'http://www.wirefolio.com/'

$cfg->dataroot = '/mnt/target02/346407/346408/www.wirefolio.com/web/uploads/';

 /www.wirefolio.com/web/content/ is where my public or htdocs are residing with the uploads hidden outside of the root.

If I dig up any other clues I will be sure to post.

If you managed to get to, or past, the installation process, try dropping and re-creating your database again.

Okay will do - Currently I am stuck on a white page is the best I get. I finagled my way to the install screen where I hit agree (It looked like css info was missing) it dumped me back to the same wierd path. Mosso is shared hosting, so perhaps it just won't go on the box.

 In my hosting settings it says the server path root is: /mnt/target02/346407/346408/www.wirefolio.com/web/content/ But I think it is related to this, because if I use the above and not the /web/uploads/ for the dataroot it will give me the warning that my dataroot is inside the root etc..

 I am also going to try and re trace my steps from the beginning and give it another go from scratch.

 Will report soon. ;)

Quick update:

 I have attempted a fresh install in a sub directory for kicks off of my root. I have tried to set up a folder called uploads behind my root and have ensured it is 777 and all of it's contents. It does appear that Mahara was able to create 3 folders in this directory, but I continue to receive the "folder is not writable" from Mahara .

 I am using shared hosting as I seen there is some issues with this from http://www.mosso.com. I have had to install using the MYSQL 5 as well vice the recommended DB.

 Appreciate the time and talk more soon.

Interesting that Mahara could create some folders but not others. Let us know if you find out more!

Hmmmm well I think I am going to have to through in the towel guys. I am not too savy on code and all of that jazz, but I just can't figure this one out.

 I checked my uploads folder and it appears that Mahara did create the 3 folders, plus all of their sub folders from. Sessions, smarty and htmlpurifier. Though I continue to receive the message that I haven't given the folder write permissions, but if it created the folders then that would make the statement false correct?

 Here is my phpinfo if this helps through up any red flags.

Really hoping to be able to drive this off the lot, but if not eh we tried. Anyways from what I have seen Mahara is a really really cool project and I wish you guys all the best.

Hang on - it didn't create an artefact/ directory?

Are you sure that the disk your system is on hasn't run out of space?

Hey Nigel,

 Let me give it another go...
