Embedded Media Block
10 July 2010, 16:21
Could you please download and test the newest version of GoogleApps blocktype v1.0.2 (2010071000), available at http://mahara.org/view/view.php?id=11634
Works for me. Please, let me know if it also works for you.
Regards, Gregor

Hello Nigel,
I see this bug tracker still has no owner, do you have any idea when it may be resolved?
Thanks, Jeremy

Hi Nigel,
similar problems here with embedding a .swf file generated by print2flash (http://www.print2flash.com/) for instance. Flash is loading and loading ... and it doesn't stop loading :(

Hi - should be done during our sprint to fix bugs for Mahara 1.2. It's definitely an important issue to look into!10 November 2009, 12:30
Hello Nigel,
Can you tell me whether this fix will be going into release 1.2 this month?
I see the tracker still has no owner:
https://eduforge.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=3242&group_id=176&atid=739
Is there any chance that could be fixed / assigned before your departure?
Thanks, Jez

I had a look at this a while ago. It's really hard to fix because of all the browser plugins that might/might not be installed, and I don't think we'll get time to do it before the initial 1.2 release.
I've always been able to get the .flv files to embed though, so maybe we should change the default settings for the embedded media block to only allow .flvs to be embedded until we get time to look at this properly.

Richard: I'm a little puzzled....Are you talking about YouTube embeds, or actual flv uploads? I've uploaded flv files, and they are not available through the "View/Embedded Media" file selection screen. running Mahara 1.2.3 through Moodle 1.9.4 on a WAMP install. I'm sure I'm missing something...
Thanks.

Hi Jeffrey,
If you have flv checked under Site Administration -> Administer Extensions in the file/internalmedia blocktype configuration, then the flv files uploaded to your files area should show up as available for selection in an Embedded Media block.
If they're not, then it sounds like a bug. We'd appreciate a bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara). It's possible your file is not being recognised as flv, so it'd be great if you could attach one of the flv's that's unrecognised, and let us know what browser version you used to upload it. You could also try to upload it at demo.mahara.org or dev.mahara.org and see if it gets recognised there.

Richard: Thanks for the timely response! The FLV was a download from YouTube (though I tried others as well), and the FLV extension was checked in the file/internalmedia/config area. I tested on demo.mahara.org with the same results, so I went ahead and posted it as a bug.
Media support is poor in Moodle, so this is an important Mahara piece for me...thanks again...
