Unzipping a file in Mahara
25 April 2011, 16:53
Hello there,
In both THIS and THIS documentation, it says you can upload a zipped file to Mahara and unzip it by using an unzip button.
http://www.dragonslair.co.nz/mahara:
In none of these four independent installations of Mahara have I found an unzip function after uploading a zipped file.
I have looked through the Mahara documentation, I have looked through the site configuration and plugin/extension settings, and cannot find anything that looks like it should switch this feature on or off.

Hi Miriam,
Here is where the "unzip" button is on Mahara 1.4 (this is an example from master.deb.mahara.org):

Hmmm so what is wrong with my zip file?
How did you zip your file? I use Windows 7 and I right clicked a folder, Send to Zipped (Compressed) file.
Because mine does not show the unzip icon.

Ok, just to add to this discussion, because I got it working.
But what I did is I downloaded a zip program called jZip and created a zip folder that way. For some reason, when I uploaded this zip file it worked.
So what was stopping the zip file created using Windows Explorer from working? I tested that file in a Moodle site, and Moodle recognised it as a zip file and gave me the unzip options.
Should I file a bug?

Yes, if you could file a bug that would be awesome:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+filebug
Also, please attach (to that bug report) one of the zip files that didn't work so we can try to reproduce the problem and figure out what was wrong with that zipfile.
Cheers,
Francois
