We are using Mahara v 1.3.2 and some of our students are having problems exporting their e-portfolios.

We receive this error during the export:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /data/httpdata/v-hosts/mahara.barony.ac.uk/htdocs/lib/htmlpurifier/HTMLPurifier/ChildDef/Required.php on line 25

Our memory_limit has been set to 256M

Cheers

Ali

Hi Ali,

You should try upgrading to 1.3.5.  I can't promise it'll fix the problem, but it'll close some security holes.  You'll also get the latest htmlpurifier (4.3.0); it looks like that contains at least one fix for an out of memory error (http://repo.or.cz/w/htmlpurifier.git/blob/f1439f0af54ca21126546bba372a8cd4a72670c5:/NEWS)

Failing that, I've seen a similar problem once before and it was during processing by htmlpurifier of html generated by MS-word (which tends to add a lot of junk).  If you know of anything like that in your users' portfolios, it'd be interesting to try cleaning it up and see if that makes any difference to the export.

R.

Hi Richard

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it is something to do with html generated by MS-word.  I logged in as one of the student’s, embedded their blogs within a view and tried to export these views which stalled.

I will need to emphasise that in future if they are to use MS-word and wish to paste from Word they will need to use Paste from word within Mahara’s HTML editor.

Thanks again

Ali
