Alternative to Flowplayer?
11 November 2010, 4:17
Hi All,
Running Mahara 1.3.3 on an Ubuntu 64 bit Server.
Our server is hosted in Germany, but I live in a plcae with rather slow interent. A few Mahara versions ago, my audio and video files played just fine on the old player. But, since Mahara switched to flowplayer, they have become absolutely useless. I now embed video using YouTube and that works fine.
My question is, is there any way I could use audio files in views using a player different form Flowplayer? I can't get my files to load at all in Firefox and just painfully slow in Chrome.
Any sugegstions? Are there any code tweaks that allow me to go back to the old media player?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Unfortunately, the licensing of the old flash-based video player prevents us from distributing it with Mahara.
That said, we are hoping to implement HTML5 audio/video tag support which should be a lot better in non-IE browsers. If anybody wants to start this, we'll be happy to provide some guidance.
Cheers,
Francois
