Employers creating events

I was wondering if there any plans or there exists an events section in mahara
reason im asking is we have some interested department wishing to use mahara for student employment purposes and it would be interesting if the employers could create 'events' that the students could attend. I tried adding this to the feature requests but signups seem to be closed.

Hi Chris
It sounds like you may be logging into the bug tracker on eduforge - the bug tracker/feature request for mahara is now with launchpad.
A low tech alternative using existing mahara features is described below.
Events could be created as a view which looks like a calendar . This view could be viewable by a group who wish to get this infomation.
There is a possibility of this being editted by members of the group to add events if it is a group view.
If a student wanted to attend the event they could give feedback on the view to say they want to come.
