Hi

We are considering changing the format of student usernames next year, and need to know how this will impact on Mahara.

What is involved in changing the usernames in Mahara so that the students can gain access to their this years work using their new username.

We are currently using Mahara version 1.1.7 (2009022622) with postgresSQL on a Debian box.  Logins are authenticated via LDAP (Active directory).

I have root rights to the linux box as well as the admin password to Mahara.I'm also familiar with SQL so am happy with direct database manipulation.

Hi Tracy,

It's been a while since I've used the ldap logins but I don't think there will be any problems if you just change the usernames directly in the Mahara database at the same time as you change them in the ldap directory.

Richard.

Thanks Richard.

I haven't looked at the Mahara DB yet.  Is there just one field in one table which will need to be updated?  If so what table will it be?

The 'username' field in the 'usr' table.
