Is there more on that page than just what you see in the screenshot? I was expecting to see a section listing PHP configuration variables.10 January 2009, 6:51

Yep - looks like exec() is disabled. You will need to get it enabled, or wait for Mahara 1.1 which won't require it to detect file types.10 January 2009, 13:50
Ok thanks Nigel. I did ask for it to be enabled but was told it would be too much of a security risk in a shared hosting environment - presumably this is where I stop now and wait for 1.1 ...

Or the other option is to find a new webhost - if you can afford a small amount a month, VPS hosting allows you to do whatever you want, because you're effectively managing your own server.15 results
