Is it possible to send a message to all the members in a group or to a subgroup? If so, how? 

I am new to Mahara and ... hmmm ... finding it difficult to figure out how to use it.

The best way to send all members of a group an information ist to use the forum. Exactly the way i noticed your posting here all members of the group will be able to read it. You only should taje care that the subscribe to the forum :-)

This would be a feature that is not avaiable. Needs funding :-)

It's the kind of feature we should add for sure . For now, using the forums will work for sending a message to everyone, if you set up an auto-subscribe forum. From Mahara 1.2, all groups will have a forum set up automatically that subscribes all new members, which will help with this.
