Hello

I am currently the administrator of a site with Mahara 17.10 and most of the user accounts of the site are authenticated from an external LDAP service.

The current passwords of user accounts do not meet one of the conditions of the new password policy incorporated in Mahara 18.04.

In particular, in this external LDAP service it is not necessary for passwords to contain symbols.

If I upgrade my Mahara site to version 18.04, will users have problems with their passwords?

Thank you.

Hello Juan,

The default settings for new password policy does require 'symbols' as part of a password.

However, a site administrator can adjust password requirements via

Administration -> Configure site -> Site options -> Security settings

see https://manual.mahara.org/en/18.04/administration/config_site.html#security-settings

So you should be able to pick a password policy to suit your needs

Cheers

Robert
