Kia ora Mahara community,

Welcome to Mahara 19.04. Today we release this latest version of Mahara. It includes a number of features improving usability and adding some long awaited features to Mahara as well an upgrade to Bootstrap 4.

Highlights in Mahara 19.04 include: 

  • Upgrade to Bootstrap 4
  • Page header update
  • SmartEvidence editor
  • Open links in a new tab / window
  • Forum enhancements
  • Isolated institutions

Other notable new features include:

  • Support for Badgr
  • Rotation of SAML certificate with extra time
  • Setup improvements for Behat tests

Supported releases

Mahara 18.04 and 18.10 are still supported for security updates. The support for Mahara 17.10 ends now. Support for Mahara 18.04 will end in October 2019, Mahara 18.10 will be supported until April 2020. Mahara 19.04 will receive updates until October 2020.

We recommend you upgrade to 19.04 as that gives you the longest support time frame at the moment. If your organisation uses Mahara 18.04 or 18.10, you can stay on either version until their support runs out.
