Hi

If a user shares a page with a group(we're on Mahara 15.10.3) how can other members of that group edit that page? or is that not possible?

I would like individuals to make a copy of a page they have, share it with a group and for the group members to be able to edit it to move items onto a shared page in a group collection,

Hi Teresa,

In order for multiple users to be able to edit a page, the page must be owned by the group. So, the group will need to make its own copy of the page. The steps would be something like this:

1. Under the group's settings, make sure the permission to "Create and edit" is set to "All group members".

2. Have the user share their page with the group, and, under the "Advanced settings" section of the Share screen, tick the box to "Allow copying".

3. Then, the user (or anyone in the group) can go to the group's "Pages" screen, and click the "Copy a page" button there.

4. The next screen will say "Copy a page or collection" and list all of the pages & collections that have been shared with the group and are copyable. Then just find your page in the list and click the "Copy page" button to copy it.

One potential drawback to this, is that the group's copy of the page will no longer show the original user as its author. So if you need to keep track of that, you'll have to have them put it in the page title or description or something. And there's no record-keeping about who made what changes to a group page, so you'll have to trust your users. :)

Cheers,

Aaron

P.S. Don't use the "Copy" button that the group members will see on the shared page if they open it. That will only create a copy in their own portfolio but not in the group. They will need to go the way that Aaron described via the "Copy a page" button on Group -> Pages.

Thanks both, that's very helpful.
