Sorry if this post is a duplicate, but i couldn't find a way to search the forums and browsing thousands of posts just became too much for me.

I would like to change the favicon.ico on my site but no matter where i put it i have been unable to change it.  So far i have tried putting it in:

  • /html_root/
  • Selected template Image directory (Fresh)

I looked to see if there was a cache being used to store the page info, but couldn't find any reference to one.  So at this point i am somewhat stuck.

Mahara uses a <link> tag in the page header to tell the browser to use the "favicon.ico" file in the Mahara directory. If you replace that file with a different one, you should be able to change the favicon.

Cheers,

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

I don't seem to have a directory called Mahara.  Could tell me how to locate the page header please?

Thanks

Dantina

Hello Dantina,

The favicon must sit in the root of your site. In Mahara it sits directly in the htdocs folder. Swap it out there for the one that you want to use. You just need to be careful when you pull new code that it is not overwritten...

Cheers

Kristina
