Is there a group working on a Spanish translation of the Mahara users manual (these are so good and helpful and we'd like to have them available for our South American partners)?

We have some translating resource to offer in too ...

Where should I look for info on this?

Thanks

Hi Andrew,

I don't believe there is anyone currently working on a Spanish language translation of the manual, but you could check in the Comunidad Mahara en EspaƱol forum. Even if you're starting on a translation of your own, it would be good to post there to let people know, and see if anyone has any input to offer.

There's a page on the wiki with the technical details of how we handle manual translations: https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/Developer_Area/User_manual_translation

The short version is that we do them through the Launchpad translation interface, the same as we do Mahara langpack translations. There's already a branch set up on Launchpad for Spanish, so anyone who wishes to work on it can begin plugging in translations right away: https://translations.launchpad.net/mahara-manual/1.8/+lang/es

Once there's enough of the manual translated to make it useful, you let us know here on the mahara.org forum, and we can do some further setup to get the Spanish manual formatted and displayed on the manual.mahara.org site.

It goes without saying that a Spanish translation of the manual would be quite welcome. I've thought about working on it myself, having taken quite a few Spanish classes in high school and college, but I quickly realized that not only is my Spanish really rusty, but also none of my textbooks covered any Internet-related terminology. Wink

Cheers,

Aaron
