Hi

I seem to be having trouble (again) getting a couple of RSS feeds to update on one of my views on our institutions install of Mahara. The feed is static i.e. they don't update at all....

One if for my WordPress Blog, this is the feed I entered:

http://johnsteachingblog.wordpress.com/wp-rss2.php

The other is for Twitter:

http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/johnwilkie.rss

Any idea's?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi - when a feed gets "stuck", that could mean that Mahara has both been stuck with dodgy data from the feed, and has been unable to grab newer data.

The best way to find out is to check the error log for your cron. You should be logging the output of the cronjob somewhere so you can review it for later.

What I would expect to see is some kind of error and backtrace every half hour when the RSS updater runs.

If that's all too hard, you could look in the blocktype_externalfeed_data table and remove everything related to your feeds, then see if they start updating again on the half hour.

I'd be interested to see a backtrace if there is one though, it might point the way to a bug in the RSS parser.

Hi Nigel

 Thanks for your reply.

I don't have access to the utilites/logs you mention. Our install is being facilitated by an external company (Howard Miller). I'll pass on this post to him and se if he can shed more light on the problem.

 Many thanks.
