Hello Mathew,

Yes, you can when you use the "Add and update users by CSV" functionality (Mahara 1.5+). See http://manual.mahara.org/en/1.5/site_admin/users.html#add-and-new15-update-users-by-csv

You can get a CSV file with your users on the "User search" page -> select all your users (you might have to change the results per page to a higher number and extract multiple CSV files) -> "Reports" -> Download the CSV file(s).

Then when you are on the "Add users by CSV" screen, make sure you choose the correct institution and authentication method and place a tick next to the check box "Update users" (and no ticks for password and email to users). Then just choose the "Disable email" option from the "General accounts settings" and you should be good to go.

As you are updating a bunch of users, you might want to give it a try on your test server first or just change it for a few users to see that it works on your installation.

Cheers

Kristina
