Hi Everyone

is there a way of embedding Slideshare offerings in Mahara? I have tried the embed command but without luck. Any advice appreciated.

Hi - what version of Mahara do you have? I added a filter to allow slideshare from Mahara 1.1.2.

Hi, I may be missing something here, but I'm not quite sure how the SideShare filter is supposed to work.

Using Mahara 1.1.3

Under Administration > Administer Extensions > HTML Filters >Installed I can see http://slideshare.net. Smile

However, Im not quite sure how to add a Slideshare to a Mahara view. If I use an External Video from Files, Images and Video and copy and paste the SlideShare 'embed' code it does not work - just a title with no content. Frown

If I use a a Text Box from General, and add the SlideShare 'embed' code in HTML-editing mode, I get appropriate functional links to  slideshare.net, but not the 'embedded' presentation I was expecting.

Am I just expecting too much? Undecided

Hi - doing things the second way should have worked for you (the external video only deals with those sites that it lists it can handle). So it's a bit strange that it didn't work! Could you please file a bug with the slideshare code you used?

This is still an issue for me as well. We are running Mahara 1.1.3 and have the slideshare filter installed, but I'm unable to display a slideshare by using a Text Box and pasting in the embed code. Just like Geoff describes, it just shows a title and no content.

You can see my Mahara portfolio and how the slideshare embeds by seeing my portfolio at: http://moodle.castilleja.org/eportfolio/view/view.php?id=4 . The slidshare element is in the upper right hand corner. I also tried this on my test portfolio that I keep at the Mahara.org site and the same behavior was exhibited.

Thanks,

Hi - I just had a dig around, and discovered that the filter was out of date as slideshare had moved their flash player to a new URL (on slidesharecdn.com). I've updated the filter and it's committed now, so the fix will be in the next release!

If you're interested, the diff is here:  http://git.mahara.org/?p=mahara.git;a=commitdiff;h=cf0f9d37c84718511cfba4a171a9ae4f932d2bae

All versions from 1.1.4 onwards have the fixed filter already, I believe. You might need to upgrade.

If you're using a newer version and it's still not working, paste the URL to your slideshare presentation here so we can have a double check to make sure it works.

Tried it again with some other presentations:

I get appropriate functional links to  slideshare.net, but not the 'embedded' presentation I was expecting.
