Is there a known character limit for textboxes? We found in 1.2 that when students entered over 65.5k characters data was lost.

Hi Samantha,

Are you using mysql? That (~65k) is approximately the limit of mysql text fields.

In newer versions of mahara, students can put novel-sized text into a google document since there are google apps blocks now.

Hi Sam,

As Pascale already wrote in the MUG group, you can write pretty long text in the text box. I had not encountered or heard of that issue before, and I think at one point a student had put a 5-page paper into a text box in Mahara 1.2 when we used that at the university where I worked.

So I guess: Upgrade to 1.5 and put the text in where you had trouble in 1.2.

The only text limit you can set is for wall posts. All others are as much as the system allows.
