Hi, our school is at the pre-embyonic stage.  We have Moodle and will soon upgrade to Moodle 2. Should we put Mahara on the server or use it on the cloud? If we choose the cloud does the school have to create an overarching structure, or does each student log in and create their own profile, and join a teacher's or school's group? Thanks

Hi there. By "cloud" do you mean online as opposed to locally within your school? Either way, you can set up Mahara and Moodle together (known as Mahoodle) such that your pupils can log into Moodle and then they click a link that automatically signs them and their profile into Mahara. They can then join groups or be allocated into groups.

Hello Chris,

Moodle and Mahara do no have to sit on the same server in order to be linked as Mahoodle. There is a guide on the wiki that explains how you can link the two. You just need their root addresses. That means, if you do not want to / have the capacity to install Mahara on your own server, you could have it hosted somewhere else or join a community site that offers portfolios powered by Mahara. In any case, you would set up an institution so that you can set up you link back to Moodle for single sign on.

Cheers

Kristina
