Upgrading from 1.3.4beta to future releases?

I would like to convince our IT department to use the 1.3.4 beta version for the new school year. In the documentation I read that 'Upgrading from this release to any future release will not be
supported either, so please perform any testing you might want to make
on either a new install of this release or a copy of your site.'

I do not realy know  what that means. Does this refer to running an upgrading script against the existing php files? If so, could one simple install a new, future mahara against an existing 1.3.4beta database. Is that safe to do?

In other words: If I work on the 1.3.4beta, am I limiting myself to not being able to ever work with future releases using the same database?

Thanks

Hi Dirk,

Normally we don't ensure that there's an upgrade path from the betas, but in the case of 1.3b4, upgrading to 1.3.x will work because there haven't been any changes to the upgrades since it was released, and we're not doing any more betas.
