Hi everyone,

Mahara Hui is coming to Melbourne. Since some people will be in town for MoodleMoot Australia on 24 November 2026, the Catalyst IT Australia team and I got thinking, and the result is the first Mahara Hui Australia. It will be held on 25 November 2026 in Melbourne. I look forward to this in-person event for catch up with people. We've got an exciting day planned:

• 10:00: Coffee on arrival, welcome, and introductions; Your chance to settle in, grab a coffee, and meet fellow members of the Mahara community.

• 10:30: Mahara: 20 years on: Mahara Project Lead Kristina Hoeppner leads a brief retrospective celebrating two decades of Mahara.

• 11:15: Show and tell: Presenter to be confirmed: Extending continuing professional development to better support external reviewers.

• 12:00: Open session: Discuss with other organisations how they use Mahara. Bring the questions that have been bugging you: 'How can I do this? Can you help?' Whether the answer is 'yes, today' or a future development idea, we'll work through it together.

• 13:00: Catered lunch: A great chance to connect with new people and continue conversations.

• 14:00: Working with forms in Mahara: I will walk through the proposed functionality to scaffold learner responses.

• 14:45: Wrap-up, upcoming events, and what's next for you.

• 15:00: Good bye: Thanks for joining us.

If you want to come along, please register. Space is limited. Please note: It's not possible to attend this event remotely. If you want to attend a Mahara Hui remotely, the best option would be Mahara Hui Online on 15 October 2026 at this time. Follow us on Humanitix so you are alerted when we publish new events. You can also keep an eye on the news forum for announcements like this.

Have a lovely weekend
