Or you could create your own language pack by copying all Mahara's lang files and editing them by hand. I think there might also be some scripts in the mahara-scripts git repository for compiling .po files into Mahara langpacks.

i meant, if there is a way in which i can done my own translation
]]>However, it would be possible for a programmer to write a Mahara plugin to do this. I think the closest existing plugin to this idea would be Gregor Anzelj's "survey" plugin: https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/Plugins/Artefact/Survey

thanks
]]>yes, I've seen that the italian translation was just 40% translated.
is there some way to obviate at this less translation?
thank you
]]>Yes, Mahara has been translated into many languages, including Italian. You can find information about Mahara's translations here: https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/Language_Packs
... and instructions for installing a translation here: https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/System_Administrator%27s_Guide/Next_Steps#Install_a_Language_Pack
(Basically, you just go to http://langpacks.mahara.org/, download the language pack for your version of Mahara, and copy it into the correct place in your dataroot directory.)
Mahara translations are contributed by members of the Mahara community, using https://translations.launchpad.net/mahara-lang . The Italian translation for Mahara 15.04 is only about 40% complete, though, which means that some strings will be displayed in English.

Aaron

Sorry Kristina, i would like to ask you, is in mahara the chance to customize the final user interface with the italian language and, if yes, in which way?
thank you
]]>Thanks for you support.
]]>Since Mahara is open source, you can change anything and everything. :-)
We have measures in place to allow language changes to be made on the server side without them being overwritten when an update of Mahara in general is necessary.
While users cannot change the interface terminology, they could work in their preferred language if a language pack exists and if the administrator installed it. However, users can change the language used on their portfolio pages and they can also determine who shall have access to them. Mahara has a comprehensive permissions framework.
If you want to find out how people are using Mahara, you can find a great number of stories in the quarterly newsletter. Just last month, the Mahara User Group met and had a student showcase. That has been recorded. On the presentations pages you will also find presentations from people that showcase how they work with Mahara.
I hope that helps you get started until more answers come from Mahara users.
Cheers
Kristina

Sorry for the boring.
I'm student of University of Foggia (Italy).
Now i'm working on a project work on e - portfolio open source. I've seen that mahara is one of the best e-portfolio open source, but i need some explanation about some skill and potential of this platform.
I need to know what is the level of personalization of an e-portfolio implemented by mahara (e.g. language, label of tabs, access permission)
In a case study, we have to study what are the possible advantage and potentiality of mahara about the work of a student and a work of teacher. what are the possibly advantage of using mahara for a student and a teacher?
Could anyone give some actual example?
I will be very grateful to those who have the patience of reply me
thanks a lot
