Thanks for testing and sorry for the late reply. In the meantime, Hugh has implemented changes to the device detection based on Dirk's feedback on the bug tracker. I hope some things improved.

]]>Sorry for the very late reply. You need to set up your own account on master.dev. Just register on the site.

]]>I got it to work with an iPad3, but still not with an iPad2, so maybe that's been the problem.
I've posted the question to Kien (who posts in here re: PortfolioUp!) and will see his feedback.
Thanks for your help in this.
]]>working on master.dev.mahara.org, after changing a page theme once, I can edit the page but I am unable to change the page theme either back to default or any other theme.
Yes, choosing artifacts strictly based on the icons is difficult.
Can I ask what device(s), you are using (in case it's an IOS version issue)?
Thanks
]]>Can I ask if you had any issues setting up PortfolioUp!?
I manage to get it downloaded no problem and added to the devices, but when I click on the app, it flashes the name of the app, then closes and returns to the device window.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
]]>It seemed to work initially but once I tried to set a page theme no further editing of the page is possible at all. When i went to make a journal entry the html editor buttons were all missing as well.
I also noted that, as with 1.5, you cannot see the text descriptions of the artefacts as you do when mousing over on a pc or mac. This can make it difficult to know whether you are adding a blog or a blog post for example.
However, next week we have a group of students going to China with iPads and they will use Mahara to create their Journals and other pages. They will certainly give the combo a good try out on 1.5.2.

]]>What's the username/password for the dev site?
Thanks
]]>I'm at a conference tomorrow and Friday but give me a couple of days and I will run up Mahara 1.6 on our test server and give it a go.
We are using the iPads quite well with Mahara now although the page themes are still truned off. The PortfolioUp app is just great for taking pics and videos and uploading them to Mahara.
Cheers
Richard
]]>Do you want to give it a try on http://master.dev.mahara.org on your iPad and see if you still experience the issues? That runs on the release candidate 1 for Mahara 1.6.

]]>Can you provide a link to the bug report, so that I can follow it please?
Thanks
]]>Thanks for the report. It's good to know about things that don't work well on other devices from people who are using them.
I have an Android tablet and think it is a brilliant counterpart to the iPad AND you can use it with Mahara for uploading pretty much anything you can share.

]]>I'm filing a report now. It seems to be the case that with page themes turned on the editing features on the iPad are disabled.
However, if page themes are switched off, it is very nice and the rich text editor is just great - it works on the iPad.
I'm using Mahara latest 1.5.1.
BTW: I don't know how you can live without an iPad ;)
Cheers
Richard
A more detailed bug report would be fantastic, esp. also if there is a difference in behavior if page themes are turned off. As far as I know there weren't many changes in 1.5.1 but the main thing was to fix an issue when upgrading with a MySQL database.
Can you also please try it out on demo.mahara.org? I turned on page themes for today.
Cheers
Kristina
]]>No, you can't use any of the dialogs at all, when you click an update button in edit mode, be it on an image or text box etc, nothing happens except the "theme changed" message comes up (even though you haven't changed the theme).
I think this is since the latest upgrade to 1.5 as it was working before on 1.4 and even the first 1.5 (memory a bit hazy but that's my recollection).
Obviously we don't use the iPad a lot with Mahara as the user experience is poor but sometimes we have to (our Y9's have these supplied by the school).
If you haven't seen the error, maybe I should file a detailed bug report?
Shameless plugs:
Thanks, I haven't seen yours yet, still catching up on the recordings (but I will, it's on my list).
My ppt (Moodle/Mahara at The Southport School) is also available at http://richardnz.net if anyone else is interested. Of course, if you sign up to iMoot you can view them all.
Thanks
Richard
]]>Sorry, but I can't test it as I don't have an iPad. Does this issue only occur when users can choose their own theme or also when they cannot? It would help to narrow down the issue to see if it is theme related or if it is something else.
Cheers
Kristina
P.S. Great presentation at the iMoot 2012. It's good to see how you integrate technology at your school.
]]>In the latest 1.5, with the ability to select a theme for the page, the html editor does not appear at all on the iPad.
Instead there is a message saying that the default theme has been changed.
I'm with Dirk, the iPad is useful to us in many ways as a learning tool but currently not with iOS.
We are in the middle of a project and would be grateful for a quick fix if anyone has the time (preferably not rolling back the install :).
Cheers
Richard
]]>Using 1.4 and 1.5 dev, adding, deleting, editing and moving blocks on a 'edit page' does not work anymore on ipad. I see all the features such as the radio buttons, the arrows, the gear box and 'place block here' but none of those actually do anyhting.
More and more users are interested in using mahara with ipads and it would be great if someone had a quick solution.
