Hi Kylie

If you just want to have a play with it and maybe set up a few accounts to see how it works, you could try here: http://moodlenz.net/.

Kind regards

Richard

Hi Kylie... I have found www.greengeeks.com shared hosting works well for Mahoodle SSO.

Hello Ewart.

I am with greengeeks and I cannot for the life of me get Mahoodle SSO working.  I can go from Mahara to Moodle (if I want), but the other way throws up errors.

How did you do it?

Steve, check with your host if they allow 'http' to be passed as part of the URL when you SSO from Moodle to Mahara (not the http that's right at the beginning of the URL, the one that comes later in the string). This is specified in mod_security in the Apache web server. If not, they may (should) be able to make an exception for you.

I will do so, Steve P.   I moved over to green geeks because I thought it would work OK with them.

Steve P!  You're the man.  I sent a support email to greengeeks and they fixed it right up!

So, that's why networking doesn't work on shared hosting.  I must say I like greengeeks.  I was with inmotionhosting and they always responded "it's a problem with mahara and moodle".

Thanks, Steve P.

Hi. I'm trying to help someone get Moodle 2.0 and Mahara 1.3 working on shared hosting (mine does now but is with a different company) I suggested he email his host with the following message that I saw above and copied and pasted:

Check with your host if they allow 'http' to be passed as part of the URL when you SSO from Moodle to Mahara (not the http that's right at the beginning of the URL, the one that comes later in the string). This is specified in mod_security in the Apache web server. If not, they may (should) be able to make an exception for you.

It doesn't mean a great deal to me not being technical but I figured his webhosts would understand - however, they've replied saying this was not specific enough.. (seems specific enough to me!)

So I am asking: could anyone provide an idiot-proof version of the above paragraph so we can email them back more specifically?

Thanks

Sorry for replying to myself here, but got an answer from the webhosts saying:

We don't use mod_security because of the issues it causes on our customers websites.

As such:

> *Do you allow "http" to be passed as part of the URL when you SSO from Moodle to Mahara?

- I see nothing that would block/prohibit this since we do not utilize mod_security for its filters.

Can anyone advise further? Thanks.
